Kane Williamson, New Zealand’s gifted cricketer, had just signed on with the Karachi Kings for the PSL season 2025. This is his very first season of participation in the PSL, with the Kings having secured him earlier this season. At 34, he is looking forward to teaming again with his Sunrisers Hyderabad’s old mate from David Warner, who has taken on the reins as captain for this season.
Before heading to Karachi, Kane was busy calling the action in India for his commentary stint during IPL 2025. After hanging up his commentary boots, he flew to Lahore to join his new team. He was ruled out for the first five matches of the season, but the good news, he will most likely feature in the game against the Quetta Gladiators on Friday, April 25.
Kane had built up quite the resume in IPL, a full decade-long stint from 2015 to 2024. But the 2025 IPL auction proved to be a turning point for him when he went unsold. Throughout his career in the IPL, he was one fantastic player for Sunrisers Hyderabad, who progressed to the final in 2018 but lost to Chennai Super Kings. That was really a remarkable season for him, with 735 runs in 17 matches, thereby winning the Orange Cap awarding him the top scorer with a staggering average of 52.50 and eight half-centuries.

After parting ways with SRH in 2022, Kane played for the Gujarat Titans in the next two IPL seasons. Though he was not picked in the auction for IPL 2025, the Karachi Kings signed him up as a supplementary player for PSL 2025. Now, he is looking to make a point.
As it stands, David Warner is leading the second-placed team, the Karachi Kings on the PSL points table, having won three out of their five matches so far. Exciting times are ahead for Kane and his team as they strive to move up the ranks.
