Kevin Pietersen departed from India with much on his mind: So many memories and a special gift from a certain Virat Kohli for his son Dylan. United kingdom’s great had gone there to lend his voice to the white-ball matches of England’s tour of India.
The English great posted a picture of his son in a signed India limited-overs jersey given to him by former IPL teammate Kohli.
“Got home and gave @dylanpietersenphotography a gift from @virat.kohli and it goes straight on! Fits like a glove. Thanks buddy!” wrote Pietersen.
He was making commentary on England’s tour to India during which they lost seven out of eight white-ball matches-a disastrous show for the Jos Buttler-led side.
Ravi Shastri, while on air, said England wasn’t made to sweat during its tour of India; soon Pietersen slammed the tourists mainly for their attitude.
“I’m sorry but I am flabbergasted by the fact England had not a single team practice session since losing the 1st ODI after losing the T20 series!” Pietersen posted on X.
“How can there be any of this? I mean, honestly? That’s just crazy! I think Joe Root is the only player who has had a net this series, post-Nagpur,” he said.
England lost the 1-4 T20I series and were blanked 0-3 in the following ODI series before the Champions Trophy.
“There is no single sportsman on this planet who can honestly say they would get better without training while getting beaten. There must be no player in this England side who can board the plane from India saying to himself, ‘I did everything to try and help England win’,” wrote Pietersen.
“And for that, I’m am actually incredibly sad this evening. Losing is fine if you’re giving your best to improve everyday and if England didn’t train during this series then they didn’t try. Heartbreaking for any England fan!” he concluded.
