Beginning in Kolkata on Wednesday with a pooja ceremony on the Eden Gardens field, defending champs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) started their pre-tournament camp here. Before starting their cricketing activities at the famous cricketing site, the players and coaching team under head coach Chandrakant Pandit attended the event.
Seeking blessings for yet another successful IPL season, Captain Ajinkya Rahane and Eden Gardens’ pitch curator Sujan Mukherjee conducted the rituals as a tribute to cricket.
Said head coach Pandit before the start of the camp, “We have already set our training sessions.” Several foreign players are not free due to the Champions Trophy, but our most important ones are here. Particularly after the season we had last time, it is a wonderful sensation as we are returning to our home ground and would like to keep that energy. The group is motivated differently.
With a seating capacity of more that 68,000 spectators, the Eden Gardens is still among cricket’s most well known sites and will next season once more stage every of KKR’s home games.
With great flair, earlier in the day the KKR finished their celebratory Trophy Tour by taking the IPL 2024 championship trophy for a ride around the City of Joy. Specially fitted in KKR’s signature purple and gold colors, the precious silverware traveled around Kolkata’s favored destinations in the Yellow Ambassador Taxi.
Decorated with the team hashtag #AmiKKR and motto ‘Korbo, Lordo, Jeetbo,’ the Ambassador taxi became a mobile memorial to the third IPL championship of the club. Custom purple upholstery with gold highlights adorned the interior, as well as pictures of this taxi over the years.
Starting on March 22 at their home field, the defending champions will start their IPL 2025 campaign against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
