KL Rahul is super excited about his old buddy Karun Nair making a comeback to the Indian Test team for the series against England starting tomorrow. He thinks Karun has shown great determination in the tough times he was out of the team.
The two have been friends since childhood and have played cricket together since they were kids. While Rahul has been part of the Indian team, Karun was out of the picture for eight years, even after starting off strong with a triple hundred against England.
“We started playing together when we were 11, and we’ve been on this journey ever since,” Rahul said. “Both of us have faced our ups and downs. Karun got his chance and scored that triple hundred, but then he had a rough patch for various reasons.” Rahul was impressed by Karun’s performance in the last few years in domestic cricket for Karnataka.

Rahul said during his time away from the national team, Karun focused on getting back to the basics. “We talked about his time playing County cricket in the UK and the struggles he faced there,” Rahul added. “It’s amazing to see his drive to get back to the Indian team after all those challenges. I hope both of us can play for India for a long time.”Rahul had a great IPL and hopes Karun will do well in his comeback series. When asked about his own prep for the series, he said he started preparing right after the IPL. “I talked to my coach to prepare for this challenge. England is a tough team, especially at home, so it’s going to be a test for us, especially since we’re a younger team,” he said.
