India A will have KL Rahul, going into the second unofficial Test against England Lions. India A, under Abhimanyu Easwaran’s captaincy, will be playing against England A from June 6 to 9 onwards at the County Ground, Northampton.
Rahul, the 32-year-old batsman from Karnataka, will play in this match, said the Times of India on June 2. He is expected to open for India in the five-match series against England alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, and will leave for England on Monday. Rahul elected to take part in this match rather than base himself for training in rainy Mumbai, where he currently resides.
On the other hand, the new Test captain Shubman Gill, alongside teammate B Sai Sudharsan, will miss this game as they will be traveling to England with the rest of the team from June 6 onward.
Said a source to the effect that they needed some rest before resuming more red-ball training. Gill and Sai will only be able to practice from June 16 onwards during a four-day intra-squad game set to take place in Beckenham.

Gill is also set to hold a pre-departure press conference in Mumbai along with head coach Gautam Gambhir. He was named Test captain on May 24, making him the 37th to lead India in Tests, after Rohit Sharma‘s retirement on May 7. Gill has captained India in five T20Is, winning four.
