1. Eden Park

At the outset, the Eden Park Cricket Stadium leads the list of the top cricket grounds in New Zealand. Among the most picturesque stadiums worldwide, it is situated in Auckland which is New Zealand’s major and most populated city. In addition, Eden Park is also counted among the tiniest cricket fields worldwide.
Originally, it was a rugby field constructed in 1900. The first-ever cricket match was played here in 1930. The stadium has witnessed a number of monumental matches, one of which was the world cup matches in 1992 and 2015.

It was here that the semi-final match of the Cricket World Cup 1992 contesting Pakistan against New Zealand was held, along with the 2015 World Cup semi-final match between New Zealand and South Africa, besides many others.
The stadium area of Eden Park is complete with two large stands, four floodlight towers, a giant television screen, and a folding roof. Its seating capacity is about 42,000.
2. Seddon Park

Seddon Park has been ranked second. It is situated in Hamilton, the fourth-largest city in New Zealand. It is enclosed by the Waikato River and Hamilton’s downtown business area.
Initially, it was a rugby field that was opened in 1950, and in 1976 it was converted into a cricket ground. It has witnessed several significant matches and also was one of the venues for the 1992 and 2015 World Cups.
In 1981, the first One-Day International was played here between India and New Zealand. And, in a Test against West Indies in 2020, Kane Williamson made a record of 251 runs.
Seddon Park is a naturally blessed venue, featuring grassy steps, a forest, and a pond. A total of 10,000 fans can watch a game at this stadium but, if necessary, it can be changed to a 15,000 persons’ capacity.
3. Hagley Oval

Hagley Oval Cricket Stadium scores third place. It is found in Christchurch, the largest city of New Zealand, and is situated in the picturesque Hagley Park.
Initially established for leisure activities in 1886, it later became a cricket venue in 1907. The venue for many important and memorable matches, it was also one of the sites for 2015 Cricket World Cup.
Hagley Oval resembles a standard stadium with a pavilion, scoreboard, and picket fence. The maximum number of people that can be accommodated at this venue is 9000 and the minimum is 18000 when expanded.
4. Basin Reserve

Basin Reserve Stadium is listed as the fourth on this list. It is located in the capital city Wellington, which is New Zealand’s most populous and second-largest city.
Basin Reserve was founded in the year 1868. It was the site of many significant matches and the World Cups for both 1992 and 2015 held the stadium among their venues.
This is a lovely vintage stadium complete with a museum and a clock tower. The capacity of this stadium is 11,600 spectators, which can be increased to 13,000 spectators. The Basin Reserve pitch is recognized as one of the quickest in cricket history.
5. University Oval

The University Oval is the fifth one to be listed. Situated in Dunedin, it is the second-largest stadium in the South Island. It is surrounded by the hills and valleys of Dunedin.
The year 1920 witnessed its inception. It was a rugby ground in the earlier days until it was changed into a cricket arena in 2004. It has been the venue for many historical matches and was one of the places where the 2015 Cricket World Cup was held.
The stadium includes a grandstand, a media centre, and a scoreboard. It has the potential to accommodate 3,500 spectators, although this number can be increased to 6,000.
