England’s number one batsman Ollie Pope talks about what he eats during Test match lunch breaks and whether players drink tea during tea breaks.
There’s been a lot of chat about what players eat during lunch in a Test match. Pope gave us the lowdown on his diet during the break and it’s all about whether he’s batting.
I go for chicken, fish or maybe steak with pasta to load up, Pope said in a Sky Sports video. But when I’m batting I don’t eat much. For some reason your body just doesn’t want much in it. So I have a protein shake and a banana. If I’m batting all day I barely eat anything because it’s hard to get food in. I fuel up at the end of the day.
Pope also revealed what players have during the second break: Some have tea. I have coffee. Sometimes tea is good when there’s a rain delay or something.
