Pat Cummins, made his first hat trick in the ongoing Super Eight of the T20 World Cup 2024 against Bangladesh in Antigua on Thursday (21 june’2024). Australia won the toss and chose to bowl first. Bangladesh made 140 runs for 8 wickets in their 20 overs.
It seems that the Australian strategy of bowling first to Bangladesh for the minimum possible score, came to fruition, and everything lined up according to the team’s end. Without the bowling skills and strong fielding of the bowlers, it would not have been possible for the Aussies.
Pat Cummins gained the most appreciation and also won the title of man of the match for the game. He made a remarkable hatrick and finished with a bowling figure of 3-29. First up, he bowled Mahmudallah by a delivery that ended him taking his wicket, followed by Mahedi Hasan. Who went for a big shot but , it ended up flying straight to Adam Zampa.
Cummins then made his grand finale of the hattrick by taking the wicket of Towhid Hridoy, who tried to outsmart him but unfortunately failed to succeed in his strategy. With the hatrick, Pat got on the list of bowlers who have made their name in the T20 World Cup.
He removed both Mahamuddulla and Mahedi Hasan off the last two balls of the 18th over and then dismissed Hridoy in the first ball of the last over to claim his seventh Hattrick of the T20I World Cups.

After this match, Pat joined Brett Lee, who was the only other Australian to take a T20 World Cup trick against Bangladesh in 2007, showing off his dedication and extraordinary skills for the game.
Mitchell Starc, on the other hand, made history by taking the 95th World Cup wicket and becoming one of the top bowlers in the White- ball cricket. He began his game by taking the wicket of Tanzid Hasan in the first over.
With Mitchell Marsh choosing to field first, the first wicket of the match set up a tough competition for Bangladesh. Along with Cummins and Starc, Hazelwood also overwhelmed the audience with his strong fielding by not giving a single run away.
Australia, however, scored 100 runs for 2 wickets in 11.2 overs before the match went to its conclusion under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method due to rain, with Australia winning by 28 runs.
