In the high-stakes final against Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday, Rinku Singh playing his first-ever Asia Cup match, scripted a dream finish for India. With one run needed off three balls, the left-hander lofted his very first delivery over mid-on for four, giving India a five-wicket win and its ninth Asia Cup title, second ever in the T20 format.
The moment was made all the more memorable by TV presenter Sanjana Ganesan when she revealed that before the tournament began on 6 September, Rinku had written on a card: “Win run”, his manifestation of a wish to run the winning runs for India in the 2025 Asia Cup final. And it did come to pass in the most dramatic manner possible.
Rinku Singh had willed to hit the winning runs in the Asia Cup, and though he played just a single ball in the entire tournament; the Indian finishing ace somehow managed to do that very thing on Sunday night.
Rinku got the India-Pakistan final for his first game of Asia Cup 2025-a high-pressure change. Just one ball was enough to fulfill Rinku’s wish. And a hit over mid-on on that only ball he faced throughout the tournament took India towards its second Asia Cup T20 title.

The celebrations erupted among the team members following a five-wicket victory.
After the thriller, an ecstatic vice-captain Shubman Gill said winning the Asia Cup 2025 without losing a match throughout the tournament was “pretty amazing.”
India bowled Pakistan out for 146 runs, Kuldeep Yadav (4/30) playing the role of the chief destroyer. Chasing 147, India stumbled throughi 20/3 at that time, but then Tilak Varma along with some instrumental partnerships with Sanju Samson and Shivam Dube stabilized the chase. Eventually, India chased the target with two balls to spare.
