The Indian star wicketkeeper batter, Rishabh Pant, is set to make an exciting return to competitive cricket via a Ranji Trophy game after a long rehabilitation. The cricketer sustained a foot injury in the fourth Test against England and, from that point onward, missed Asia Cup and also Test series against West Indies.
There are reports now suggesting that Pant might play for Delhi in the upcoming Ranji season before he makes his comeback internationally against South Africa in the home Test series. The Times of India report says that if a scan is done to Rishabh Pant’s right foot in the coming week, he should get clearance by October 10.
It has come to the reporters’ notice that Rishabh Pant has already expressed his decision to play in the Ranji Trophy match for Delhi. Therefore, it would appear that Pant is expected to feature in the match against Himachal Pradesh, scheduled to begin on October 25.

“Pant has said he should be available for the Ranji Trophy matches in Delhi from Oct 25. He has conveyed that it will be subject to fitness and clearance obtained from the BCCI medical team,” a top DDCA official informed TOI.
However, he’s not committed to any date when he’d be joining the Delhi camp, but whenever he is able to take part, he is most likely going to lead the team, the DDCA official further disclosed.
“Pant has not committed to any date when he can join the Delhi camp. He has requested to wait for clearance from the CoE. Playing the first-round Ranji Trophy match from October 15 would be very tight for him. If he is available, he is most likely to lead the team,” the DDCA official stated to TOI.
As in, if all goes smoothly in the Ranji Trophy as well as his assessment from CoE, Rishabh is expected to make his return to international cricket against South Africa. The India-South Africa two-match Test series is slated to begin on November 14.
