England have announced a 14-player squad for the T20I series against India starting June 28 and star spinner Sophie Ecclestone is back in the mix. Ecclestone, ranked No.1 and No.4 in the ICC Women’s ODI and T20I Bowler Rankings, has been out of the game for a short while.
England are on a high after a 3-0 series win over West Indies in both T20I and ODI matches and will be even stronger with her back. This is also the first series for Charlotte Edwards as head coach and Nat Sciver-Brunt as captain. Pacer Lauren Filer is back in the squad after missing the West Indies series last month.
Amy Jones who is climbing the ICC Women’s Player Rankings is also in the squad. Edwards was excited about the India series and having Ecclestone back.
“There were a lot of positives from the West Indies series but there’s still things we want to improve on. We’re always looking to get better. Playing five games against India in front of big crowds will be a great experience for us. This series is big for us as we count down to the home ICC Women’s T20 World Cup,” Edwards said.
“It’s great to have Soph back and we’re looking forward to having her in the squad. She brings a lot to the team.”

Unfortunately Sarah Glenn is not in the squad but Edwards said they have a strong group of spinners and this will give Sarah a chance to go back to The Blaze and play some competitive cricket in the Vitality Blast.
