Though the IPL mini auction is still far away, teams are already getting ready. They want to strengthen their squads for the next season. Punjab Kings had a good run last season but didn’t win the final.
The team brought in some new players and with Shreyas Iyer as captain they made it to the final. But lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Even after a good season the team wants to shake things up and make some big changes.
Word is Stoinis and Chahal might be released before the mini auction which is a big surprise. News24 says Punjab Kings want to free up 29 crores.
People had high hopes when PBKS signed both players for a lot of money but it didn’t pan out. Stoinis had a few good games but wasn’t as good as he was for Lucknow Super Giants.
Same with Chahal. He played great for Rajasthan Royals but wasn’t at his best for Punjab Kings even though he took 16 wickets. His economy rate was higher in 2024 season almost reaching 10 runs per over.

Reports say PBKS will try to save 18 crores by releasing him and may look for a younger spinner.
If they get released, where could they go?
One team that might want them is Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Both have played for the team before and RCB needs a good spinner. Who better than Chahal? He has taken the most wickets in the league and can still help the team.
Stoinis could take Liam Livingstone’s place who RCB may trade or release before the mini auction.
