Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah are likely to keep their A+ grades in the BCCI central contract list, as reported by Sports Tak. The Board of Control for Cricket in India is expected to reveal the final list of central contracts by the end of this week. There might even be some changes after the upcoming five-Test series against England.
According to the report, Shreyas Iyer is set to make a comeback to the central contracts after showing impressive form in the Champions Trophy 2025. On the other hand, despite having some good performances in domestic cricket, it looks like Ishan Kishan might miss out on getting a central contract.
A top BCCI source spoke to Sports Tak, stating, “We’re nearly done with the new contracts for all player categories. We’ll share it with the public soon, probably within a day or two.” The source also mentioned that after the England tour, a final contract will be put in place that reflects players’ recent performances.
It seems the main structure will remain the same, with a few new names possibly being added later on. The source shared that input has been gathered from the coach and selectors, and things are close to being wrapped up.
On the other hand, Indian captain Rohit Sharma is feeling positive about having a fully healthy squad going into the five-match Test series against England. In a chat on the Beyond23 Cricket Podcast, Rohit talked about how crucial it is to manage player fitness during the Indian Premier League (IPL).
He noted, “We need some of these guys to be 100% fit. We just have to ensure they come out of the IPL in good shape. It’s really tough because you play today, maybe travel tomorrow, and then play again. You’re moving around the country and juggling so many games, which adds to the challenge.”
Rohit specifically pointed out the need for Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami to stay injury-free, emphasizing that if the team is completely fit, India will have a strong chance in the series. He said, “I really hope these two, along with the rest of the team, can get through the IPL without any issues. If we head to England with a fully fit squad, we stand a great chance in the series.”
