KKR has let go of head coach Chandrakant Pandit and, sources say, bowling coach Bharat Arun. There’s a lot of interest in Arun and he might join CSK before the 2026 IPL season.
KKR had brought in Arun as their bowling coach before the 2022 season. He had a good run, helped KKR win the IPL in 2024 and developed bowlers like Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora.
This is surprising since Arun did a good job, last season didn’t quite work out. The team didn’t make it to the playoffs and the bowlers had a tough time taking wickets.
What happened to Chandrakant Pandit?
Pandit, an experienced coach, faced criticism last season due to his strict coaching style, the team’s performance and unhappy players.
His coaching style was said to clash with KKR’s foreign players, some of whom even complained about it.
Reports came out last season that Pandit questioned a foreign player for eating with an opposing player, even though they were national teammates. KKR was the defending champion going into the 2025 season and the pressure was on Pandit when the team didn’t perform as expected.
Who will replace Pandit and Arun at KKR?
Word is that KKR is thinking of bringing back their former captain Eoin Morgan to replace Chandrakant Pandit. The team did well under Morgan, even reaching the finals in 2021.
Dwayne Bravo, KKR’s mentor, might step in as bowling coach replacing Arun. Given his solid T20 career, Bravo can take KKR to even greater heights.
