10. Delhi Capitals – 88/2 vs Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2024
Match No. 35 of the IPL 2024 between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad broke many records. This match will feature on this list twice. DC registered the 10th highest IPL powerplay score in this game. Batting first, SRH made a massive 266/7 in the first innings.
DC needed a flying start to chase this massive score. That’s what they got when Jake Fraser McGurk slammed a 15-ball fifty. He made 65 off just 18 balls. DC scored 88/2 in the first six overs. But they couldn’t continue the momentum, and DC were all out for 199, losing by 67 runs.
9. Kolkata Knight Riders – 88/1 vs Delhi Capitals in 2024
The highest IPL total for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL is 272/7, which came against Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2024 in Visakhapatnam. Batting first, KKR got off to a great start as Sunil Narine slammed a 21-ball fifty. On the other hand, Phil Salt and Angkrish Raghuvanshi also played well.
KKR made 88/1 in the first powerplay, which was a great start. They went on to reach 272/7, which is the third-highest IPL total ever. In reply, DC got all out for just 166 runs and lost the game by 106 runs. Narine made 85 off 39 and took 1/29 with the ball.
8. Chennai Super Kings – 90/0 vs Mumbai Indians in 2015
Chennai Super Kings have always been smart in picking good openers, and Dwayne Smith and Brendon McCullum were also part of the CSK. In the 2015 edition, these two registered the 8th highest powerplay score in the IPL history.
It came against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium while chasing. MI made 183/7 in the first innings, with Kieron Pollard scoring 64 off 30. Chasing the score, Smith (62 off 30) and McCullum (46 off 20) added 109 runs in just 7.2 overs. CSK made 90 runs in the first six overs and reached 189/4 in 16.4 overs to win the game.
7. Royal Challengers Bengaluru – 92/1 vs Gujarat Titans in 2024
Royal Challengers Bengaluru have many batting records in IPL history. This is one of them, when they recorded the 7th highest IPL powerplay score in history. They did it against Gujarat Titans in Bengaluru in the IPL 2024. Batting first, GT got all out for 147 runs in 19.3 overs.
It was a low score, and RCB needed a big win to improve their NRR. Faf du Plessis slammed an 18-ball fifty. He scored 64 off 23 and Virat Kohli made 42 off 27. RCB made 92/1 in the powerplay. They made 152/6 in just 13.4 overs to register a great win.

6. Delhi Capitals – 92/0 vs Mumbai Indians in 2024
The sixth highest powerplay in the IPL is registered under the name of Delhi Capitals. It was against Mumbai Indians during the IPL 2024 at Arun Jaitley Stadium. It was a thrilling high-scoring clash where more than 500 runs were scored.
Batting first, DC posted a massive total of 257/4. Jake Fraser McGurk slammed a 15-ball fifty, and Abhishek Porel scored 92/0 in the first six overs. McGurk made 84 off 27 balls. MI also had some brilliant batting performances, but they fell short by just ten runs and made 247/9 in the second innings.

5. Punjab Kings – 93/1 vs Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024
Punjab Kings recorded the highest successful chase in IPL history in the game against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. This match saw over 520 runs in less than 39 overs. In the first innings, KKR made 261/6. Phil Salt (75 off 37) and Sunil Narine (71 off 32) gave them a brilliant start.
It was a massive score, and PBKS needed something special. That’s what Jonny Bairstow and Prabhsimran Singh did in the first six overs. Prabhsimran slammed an 18-ball fifty, and PBKS made 93/1 in the first six overs. Bairstow scored 108 off 48 and Shashank Singh scored an unbeaten 68 off 28 to help PBKS make 262/2 in 18.4 overs to register the biggest IPL chase.
4. Chennai Super Kings – 100/2 vs Punjab Kings in 2014
Who can forget the freak innings by Suresh Raina when he scored 87 off 25 balls at a strike rate of 348? That’s when the first time a team scored 100 runs in the powerplay in the IPL. It was against Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2 in the IPL 2014. PBKS made a massive score of 226/6 in 20 overs.
Virender Sehwag scored a 58-ball 122 to set the tone. It was a must-win game, and Raina went berserk. He scored a 16-ball fifty, and CSK reached 100/2 in the powerplay. But once Raina got out, CSK lost the plot and reached 202/7, losing by 24 runs.
3. Kolkata Knight Riders – 105/0 vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2017
When Sunil Narine is on song, he is just unstoppable. One such performance came against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Chinnaswamy Stadium in the IPL 2017. This was in the second innings. RCB batted first and made 158/6 in the first innings.
The chase began with a 105-run stand between the KKR openers in 6.1 overs. Narine made a 15-ball fifty, and Chris Lynn scored a 21-ball fifty. Narine scored 54 off 17 and Lynn made a 22-ball 50, and KKR reached 105/0 in the first six overs. KKR made 159/4 in 15.1 overs to win the game easily.

2. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 107/0 vs Lucknow Super Giants in 2024
Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 was unstoppable. Though they were unfortunate to lose the final, they broke many batting records. That’s why the top two powerplay belongs to them. The second highest came in a chase, when both Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma made the mockery of the LSG bowling unit.
This was the 57th game of the IPL 2024 in Hyderabad. LSG made 165/4 on a tough pitch. But the pitch factor went away when Head and Abhishek came to bat. Both batters added 107 runs in the first six overs. SRH made 167/0 in 9.4 overs to win the game by ten wickets. Head scored 89 off 30 and Abhishek scored 75 off 28. SRH also made the fastest 150 runs for a team in the IPL.

In the game when DC made the tenth highest powerplay score in the IPL, in the same match, SRH posted the highest ever IPL powerplay score. Abhishek Sharma made a 12-ball 46, and Travis Head scored 89 off 32, and both openers added 132 runs for the first wicket in just 6.2 overs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad made 125/0 in the powerplay as they finished at 266/7. Shahbaz Ahmed also played well for his 29-ball 59 not out. DC made 199 in the second inning, and SRH won by 67 runs.
