Arguably the most-successful side, Chennai Super Kings have made a record of crashing out of the playoffs race for the second consecutive seasons. In recent years, this has become quite a phenomenon for the Super Kings. In seasons 2020, 2022, and 2024, the teams finished second-last twice and mid-table last year. However, this wasn’t the case during 2008-2019 although they were banned for 2016 and 2017 seasons.
In the ongoing 2025 season, the five-time winners are on the verge of finishing last, a feat they have never achieved before. Their biggest rival, Mumbai Indians have done it twice (2022 & 2024). Meanwhile, this year, Chennai isn’t only the team that has lost nine out of 12 games but they also seem purposeless. Despite failing badly in 75% of the games, they seem to be doing the same stuff over and over in all departments of the game, although they did well with the bat against Punjab Kings twice this season.
Meanwhile, coming to the scenario, they have absolutely no chance of qualifying for the playoffs unless the other teams starts doing badly. One might wonder if CSK fans start relating to Pakistan Cricket Fans who are often in the scenario of depending on other results for the sake of their team.
