The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) is still 7-8 months away, but the preparations have already begun. All ten teams will have the big task of rearranging their squads and trying to find the right players for the right spot. Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who had decent performances under Faf du Plessis, finished the last season in Eliminator.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has retained three players ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. They kept Virat Kohli for (INR 21) crore, Rajat Patidar for (INR 11 crore), and uncapped fast bowler Yash Dayal for (INR 5 crore). This leaves RCB with significant flexibility as they enter the auction with a budget of (INR 83 crore), the second-highest among franchises. However, big names like Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammad Siraj have been released. RCB also has three Right to Match (RTM) cards to potentially bring back some of the players they let go.
RCB IPL 2025 Retained Players list
1. Virat Kohli (Rs 21 crore)
Without a doubt, Virat Kohli will be the first player on the retention list. He is the face of RCB, and his presence has helped the franchise grow over the years. Adding to that, his consistency with the bat is another major aspect of RCB’s performance. Virat finished the IPL 2024 with the Orange Cap, scoring 741 runs at an average of 61.75 and a strike rate of 154.69, with one century and five half-centuries. For the IPL 2025 season, he has been retained at a price of INR 21 crore, underscoring his value to the team and his pivotal role in their quest for a maiden championship.
2. Rajat Patidar (Rs 11 crore)
Retained for INR 11 crore, the 32-year-old Rajat Patidar has become a key member of RCB in recent years, with his remarkable form in the latter half of IPL 2024 playing a pivotal role in the team’s playoff success. He scored 395 runs at a blistering strike rate of 177.13, notching five half-centuries along the way. RCB has effectively groomed him into a consistent striker, making his retention essential as they look to build on their strengths for the upcoming season.

3. Yash Dayal (Rs 5 crore)
Retained for INR 5 crore, Yash Dayal has transformed his career since joining Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), emerging as a standout performer last season. In 2024, he played 14 matches, taking 15 wickets with a best bowling figure of 3/20, averaging 30.60, and maintaining an economy rate of 9.15. Initially trolled for his signing, Dayal silenced critics with his impressive bowling, playing a crucial role in RCB’s playoff run.
Dayal’s journey has been marked by the guidance of Virat Kohli, who supported him during tough moments, particularly in high-pressure situations against seasoned players like MS Dhoni. Kohli’s mentorship has boosted Dayal’s confidence, and his recent domestic performances have earned him a maiden call-up to India’s Test team. As RCB gears up for IPL 2025, Dayal’s development and potential make him a key asset for the franchise.
