The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) is still 7-8 months away, but the preparations have already begun. All ten teams will have the big task of rearranging their squads and trying to find the right players for the right spot. Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who had decent performances under Faf du Plessis, finished the last season in Eliminator.
But the franchise is in desperate need of the title. RCB has been part of the IPL since the first season, but they haven’t won the title yet. Now the IPL 2025 will come up with a mega auction, and all the franchises will only have a choice to retain 3-4 players, and the rest of the players will do under the hammer. Hence, we will talk about the four players whom RCB can retain ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
RCB IPL 2025 Retained Players list
Four Players RCB can retain ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
1. Virat Kohli
Without a doubt, Virat Kohli will be the first player on the retention list. He is the face of the RCB, and his presence has helped the franchise grow over the years. Adding to that, his consistency with the bat is another major aspect of RCB’s performance over the years. Virat finished the IPL 2024 with the Orange Cap. He scored 741 runs at an average of 61.75 and a strike rate of 154.69, with one century and five half-centuries.
2. Rajat Patidar
The 32-year-old Rajat Patidar has become a key member of RCB in the last few years. His form in the second half of the IPL 2024 was one of the reasons that they made it to the players. He scored 395 runs at a blistering strike rate of 177.13 with five half-centuries. RCB has groomed him into a consistent striker, and now if they release him, it will be a bad decision.
3. Mohammed Siraj
Mohammed Siraj has become a key member of the RCB bowling lineup, and he is the leader of the pack. Over the years, he has grown as a mature bowler, and the franchise should get the credit for it. Playing for RCB has certainly given Siraj immense confidence, and he is now an all-format bowler for India. He took 15 wickets in the last edition for the team. Siraj can bowl well at Chinnaswamy, which is not an easy place for the bowlers. Hence, the franchise will want to have him for the IPL 2025.

4. Glenn Maxwell or Will Jacks
Faf du Plessis is already 38 years old, and him playing for another three years might not be possible. Hence, RCB can release him. That’s where they have two good options in Glenn Maxwell and Will Jacks. But the Australian all-rounder has a horrible IPL 2024 with bat and ball. There is some news that Maxwell has unfollowed the franchise on social media, which has sparked rumours about him leaving RCB.
If that is right, then Will Jacks will be a perfect pick. The English all-rounder brings a similar skillset like Maxwell and is more consistent with the bat. He had a brilliant IPL 2024 and scored 230 runs in just 8 innings with a blistering century. So one of these two might be the fourth pick of the RCB for the IPL 2025.
