New Zealand’s Ish Sodhi has joined the elite club of bowlers with 150+ T20I wickets. The 32-year-old achieved this feat in a match-winning performance against Zimbabwe in the Zimbabwe T20I tri-series 2025 final league game at the Harare Sports Club in July 2025.
Sodhi is now one of only three bowlers in the world to have achieved this feat in T20I cricket, along with another New Zealander and an Afghan spinner. Let’s take a look at these bowlers:
1. Tim Southee – 164 wickets in 126 matches
Tim Southee, a great in all formats for New Zealand, ended his international career last year with 776 wickets. 164 of those came in 123 T20I innings, making him the format’s leading wicket-taker. He debuted internationally in a T20I against England in February 2008.
The right-arm fast bowler has two five-wicket hauls, both of which were part of New Zealand wins. His best T20I performance was 5-18 against Pakistan in Auckland in December 2010. He was also part of New Zealand’s T20 World Cup campaigns, including the 2021 finals where he took 8 wickets in 7 innings with an economy rate of 6.50.
2. Rashid Khan – 161 wickets in 96 matches
Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan has taken 161 wickets in 96 T20I innings since his debut in October 2015. Rashid became the fastest to reach both 100 and 150 wickets. He got to 50 wickets in 31 matches and then only needed 22 more innings to get to 100 from 53 matches, beating Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichanne’s record by one match.
Khan also has the best bowling average among bowlers with over 120 T20I wickets. His average is 13.80 and his economy rate is 6.08. He has eight four-wicket hauls, the most ever. Rashid Khan also has two five-wicket hauls, his best being 3-5 against Ireland.

3. Ish Sodhi – 150 wickets in 126 matches
Ish Sodhi has 150 T20I wickets in 126 matches. He debuted for New Zealand in July 2014 against the West Indies, and got the wicket of Andre Fletcher in his team’s win. It took Sodhi 42 matches to get to 50 T20I wickets and then 36 more to get to 100.
He had a good run at the 2016 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India, taking 10 wickets in 5 matches at 12. Ish Sodhi has 4 four-wicket hauls, his best being 4-12 against Zimbabwe in 2015. He also took 4 wickets each against Australia and Bangladesh. His current T20I bowling average is 22.52 and economy rate under 8.
