On July 27, India played good cricket and didn’t let England win. The 4th Test ended in a draw and India’s hopes are still alive in the series.
England were in a position to win that game and win the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. They needed 8 wickets with almost 2 days to go. But KL Rahul and Shubman Gill batted through the entire Day 4. Then Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar added 203 runs without losing a wicket and put pressure on England.
The teams decided to draw. Now they will head to Kia Oval for the 5th and final Test. India can tie the series 2-2. Fans are wondering who will keep the trophy if that happens.
If India wins the 5th Test and ties the series, England will keep the trophy. The rule is the team that won the previous series gets to keep the trophy. The last India-England series in England (previously called the Pataudi Trophy) ended in a draw in 2021. But Ben Stokes team won the series in 2018 and beat India 4-1.
