Pakistan and West Indies played the 3rd and final T20I in Florida, USA on Monday, August 4. After the toss, Salman Ali Agha surprised everyone by saying Shaheen Afridi won’t be playing.
The internet was buzzing with questions, why was he not playing? Was it a tactic or was he injured?
Agha Salman didn’t mention any injury so it seems Afridi was benched. Agha said Afridi was being rested which seemed odd given the importance of the match.

The 25 year old just came back to the T20I team for the West Indies tour but he didn’t perform well, took only 2 wickets in 2 games. In the 1st T20I he gave 27 runs in 4 overs. In the 2nd he gave 31 runs and couldn’t defend in the end.

During the tour whispers started that Shaheen Afridi and captain Salman Ali Agha weren’t getting along. These rumors spread quickly online and PCB had to intervene, denying any issues and threatening legal action against those spreading false information. This decision to bench Afridi has once again sparked rumors of a rift between him and the T20I captain.
