India has had some amazing bowling performances in the Asia Cup (ODI format). These have often turned the match around in big games.
Here are the top 5 bowling performances by Indian players in the tournament’s history.
1. Mohammed Siraj – 6/21 against Sri Lanka (Colombo, 2023 Final)
In the 2023 Asia Cup final, Mohammed Siraj destroyed Sri Lanka with an incredible spell, taking 6 wickets for 21 runs. He took 4 wickets in an over, matching Chaminda Vaas’s record for the fastest 5 wicket haul in ODIs, in just 16 balls. Sri Lanka was bowled out for 50. India won by 10 wickets. This is the highest bowling performance by an Indian in Asia Cup history.
2. Arshad Ayub – 5/21 a against Pakistan (Colombo, 2023)
Kuldeep Yadav was the star in the Super 4s of the 2023 Asia Cup. He took apart Pakistan’s batting lineup with a stunning 5/25. His googlies and leg spin were too good for the batsmen and they were dismissed easily. This helped India dominate the game and win by a big margin. Yadav’s variations and control was too much for the Pakistani batsmen to handle.

4. Ravindra Jadeja – 4/29 against Bangladesh (Dubai, 2018)
Back in the ODI team for the 2018 Asia Cup, Ravindra Jadeja had an instant impact against Bangladesh. His 4/29 stifled the middle order with his left-arm spin. This reminded everyone of his all-rounder credentials and helped India win. Jadeja’s accuracy and game sense helped him to take wickets at crucial moments and consolidate India’s position.
5. Sachin Tendulkar – 3/35 against Bangladesh (Colombo, 2004)
While he is known more for his batting, Sachin Tendulkar showed his flexibility in the 2004 Asia Cup against Bangladesh. He took 3/35 in 10 overs. He bowled a mix of leg breaks and off spin to keep the opposition quiet. Tendulkar then scored an unbeaten 82 with the bat and was declared Player of the Match. This was his best Asia Cup bowling performance. He proved his value to the team and his cricketing skills by switching from bat to ball.
