Supports Every Player
Rinku said in an interview that Gambhir supports every player. He gave me a lot of support during my time with KKR. He gives freedom to all players, tells them to go out, play and do whatever they want. We all know he is competitive and one of the good things about him is that he really wants to win. He watches matches and prays and is very supportive.
Reveals the lighter side of Gautam Gambhir
The 27-year-old also shared stories that show Gambhir’s lighter side. Unlike his serious look on the field, Gambhir likes to listen to music in the locker room and even joke around with the senior players.
Rinku said Gambhir is not always serious. He likes to hear songs in the locker room. Ramandeep used to be a DJ in our room. He would play songs and Gambhir would make a relaxed atmosphere. He would also joke and have fun with the experienced players.
Asia Cup is the new challenge for Coach Gambhir
Gambhir’s coaching career has had its highs and lows. After leading KKR to their third IPL title in 2024 with Shreyas Iyer as captain, he was appointed as India’s head coach. It wasn’t easy. India lost the ODI series against England and had big losses against New Zealand and Australia in long Test matches. During the recent five-Test series against England, Gambhir’s tactical thinking helped India tie the series 2-2.Now Gambhir has the Asia Cup 2025 to tackle where he will be working with Rinku Singh again in the 15-member team.
Gambhir’s experience as a player and his tactical mind will be key as India tries to win the Asia Cup. Rinku’s praise shows the respect and trust the players have for Gambhir which will be a good thing for the team as they gear up for the tournament. The Asia Cup 2025 will be a big test for Gambhir as head coach and his leadership will be crucial for India’s chances.
