Romario Shepherd, the West Indies’ all-rounder, put on a show for the Guyana Amazon Warriors on Wednesday, August 27th. In the 13th match of the CPL 2025, Shepherd, 30, walked in at number 7 for the Imran Tahir led team. They were up against the St Lucia Kings at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia. He finished not out on 73 off 34.
In his time at the crease, Shepherd hit 5 fours and 7 sixes. What’s interesting is that 3 of those sixes came in the 15th over bowled by Oshane Thomas and all 3 were off free hits.
Thomas bowled a no ball on the 3rd ball and Shepherd didn’t score off that ball but got a free hit. He hit a six off that free hit. Then Thomas overstepped again and Shepherd got another free hit. He hit another six but Thomas had a no ball again. On his 3rd free hit in a row, Shepherd hit another six.

Since Shepherd hit 3 sixes off free hits, only 1 of those balls was a legal delivery. So Shepherd scored 20 runs off 1 ball.
Fans shared clips of Shepherd’s batting on X and now the footage is all over the internet.

Shepherd who has played 39 ODIs and 63 T20Is for the West Indies also made waves with his batting in the IPL 2025. Playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Romario scored 70 runs in 3 innings out of 8 matches. He also took 6 wickets.
In RCB’s 11th match of the season against Chennai Super Kings on May 3rd at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, he got to his half century in just 14 balls. Shepherd’s 14 ball fifty is the 2nd fastest in the history of the Indian Premier League.
The record for the fastest fifty in the IPL is held by Yashasvi Jaiswal. The left handed Indian batter scored 50 runs in 13 balls for Rajasthan Royals against Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2023.
