Rumor has it KKR might go for KL Rahul before IPL 2026 after their poor show in 2025.
But, word is DC is not willing to let him go as he is an important player for them.
Trades and player releases are common in the IPL off season and big names moving or unexpected deals always grab attention. Teams can trade up to a week before the auction and there’s another window after the auction that lasts till a month before the next season. Teams can trade for cash or swap players, whatever works for them.

KKR Needs a Leader After Tough IPL 2025
KKR had a forgettable 2025. They were the defending champions but finished 8th with only 5 wins in 14 games. Ajinkya Rahane did well with the bat but the team wasn’t consistent. Rahane also recently quit as captain for Mumbai in domestic cricket and people are wondering if he wants to continue as KKR captain. The team needs a new captain and a reliable wicketkeeper batsman. Quinton de Kock didn’t have a great season, scored only 152 runs in 8 games and they didn’t have many good local wicketkeeping options.

He also scored a century and three fifties. Rahul also became the fastest player to reach 5,000 runs in IPL history. He now has 5,222 runs from 145 IPL matches, averaging 46.21 with a strike rate of 136.03, including five centuries and 40 half centuries. The 33 year old used to captain Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for three seasons but was surprisingly let go before the 2025 mega auction. Delhi Capitals picked him up in that auction. Rahul has 2,265 runs in 72 T20Is with a strike rate of 139.12, including two centuries and 22 fifties. He last played for India in the 2022 World Cup semifinal against England.
