The players’ list for the IPL 2026 auction has been released. The first IPL 2026 auction has already made a huge mark in cricket’s history with a total of 1355 players signing up for the mini auction with the expectation to be purchased by one of the franchises in the particularly rich league. The mini auction takes place on December 16 in Abu Dhabi as a single-day event. One of the key players registered is Australian all-rounder Cameron Green, who, due to injury, was not able to be a part of the previous season.
The entry of well-known Indian cricketers has been made in the IPL 2026 auction. The list includes Mayank Agarwal, KS Bharat, Rahul Chahar, Ravi Bishnoi, Akash Deep, Deepak Hooda, Venkatesh Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, Shivam Mavi, Navdeep Saini, Chetan Sakariya, Kuldeep Sen, Prithvi Shaw, Rahul Tripathi, Sandeep Warrier and Umesh Yadav.
Cameron Green, Jamie Smith along with the top overseas names
Besides the others, Cameron Green, Matthew Short, and Steve Smith are the first registered big Australian players and among the overseas names. Green, who was absent the last IPL season due to an injury, has set a base price of INR 2 crore and will be one of the most sought after players in the auction. As Andre Russell steps down from IPL, Green becomes one of the best candidates for that explosive all-rounder that can hit the ball far. Even Josh Inglis has registered his name despite his wedding being at the same time making his availability uncertain.
From England, Jamie Smith and Jonny Bairstow are included in the list. A few teams will be on the lookout for a wicketkeeper-batter and this could be the right time for Jamie Smith to get lucky. The long-listed players also comprise Rachin Ravindra from New Zealand along with Wanindu Hasaranga and Matheesha Pathirana from Sri Lanka.
In the IPL 2026 auction, only two Indian players have occurred who have put down the highest base price of INR 2 crore. Venkatesh Iyer, who was released by KKR on the last day of retention, and Ravi Bishnoi of LSG, both claimed this amount. Shakib Al Hasan, the veteran IPL player, has fixed his base price INR 1 crore.
Glenn Maxwell to skip IPL 2026
One big name missing from the long list is the Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. Last season, Punjab Kings had picked him for INR 4.2 crore, which made them the fourth team of his IPL journey.
However, Maxwell, who is now 37, had a fractured finger during the 2025 season and thus had to be substituted by another Australian all-rounder, Mitchell Owen, who has been retained by PBKS before the IPL 2026 auction.
