England Champions produced a composed all-round display to beat Bangladesh Legends by seven wickets in a World Championship of Legends (WCL) T20 fixture at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Tuesday. Chasing a modest total, the England outfit never allowed the chase to drift, wrapping up the contest with balls to spare and extending their winning momentum in the tournament.
Bangladesh Legends Fail to Capitalise on Starts
Put in to bat first, Bangladesh Legends struggled for fluency against a disciplined England bowling attack that mixed pace with clever variations. Wickets fell at regular intervals, and despite a few batters getting starts, none could convert them into a match-defining innings. The Bangladesh middle order showed some resistance in the latter half, helping the side post 164 for 9 in their 20 overs, but the total always looked a touch short on a surface that offered decent value for stroke play.
In reply, England Champions got off to a watchful start before accelerating through the middle overs. The top order laid a solid platform, rotating strike and picking the gaps against the Bangladesh bowlers, who struggled to find early breakthroughs. A couple of quick wickets in the middle overs briefly threatened to stall the chase, but calm heads in the England camp ensured there was no late twist, as they completed the chase at 166 for 3 with overs to spare.
The comfortable margin underlined the gulf in execution on the day, with England Champions’ bowlers setting up the game early and the batters finishing it off without fuss. As CricketBuzz reported from Sharjah, the result keeps England Champions firmly in contention in the WCL standings, while Bangladesh Legends will need to regroup quickly ahead of their next assignment. CricketBuzz understands both sides have more fixtures coming up in this high-octane legends tournament, and fans can expect more closely fought contests in the days ahead.
