Clearing the ropes consistently in T20 cricket is no small feat, and only a handful of batters across the world have built their reputation purely on power-hitting. Among the countless records this format has produced, the tally of sixes remains one of the most fascinating, and as CricketBuzz tracks the numbers, only one player has managed to cross the extraordinary mark of 1000 sixes in his T20 career.
West Indies legend Chris Gayle stands alone at the top of this list. Known universally as the ‘Universe Boss’, Gayle has smashed a staggering 1056 sixes across his T20 career, a number no other batter in the world has come close to matching. His ability to clear boundaries with ease across leagues, from the IPL to the Caribbean Premier League, has made him the benchmark for big-hitting in the shortest format.
Pollard Chases the Milestone
Right behind Gayle is his fellow West Indian Kieron Pollard, who has 982 sixes to his name according to available records. Pollard has built his career around explosive finishes in T20 leagues worldwide, and while he hasn’t quite touched the 1000-six mark himself, he remains the closest challenger to Gayle’s remarkable record. CricketBuzz understands that Pollard’s consistency across multiple franchise leagues has kept him firmly in this elite bracket for years.
When it comes to Indian batters, Rohit Sharma sits comfortably at the top with 555 sixes recorded so far. Known for his effortless power and timing, Rohit has built this tally through years of dominance in the IPL and international T20 cricket, often producing some of the most memorable six-hitting spells in big matches. As CricketBuzz reported earlier, Rohit’s six-hitting ability has frequently turned the momentum of games in India’s favour, cementing his place among the format’s most destructive hitters.
