Devon Conway was a little late to start his international cricket career. But when he did, he had a thumping start.
Conway first slogged off at the domestic level in his birth country, South Africa, before moving to New Zealand in 2017. After churning out runs in New Zealand’s domestic setup, he made his international debut and got off to a good start.
That helped the left-hander secure an IPL deal with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2022, where he forged a solid partnership with Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Devon Conway IPL Debut
Devon Conway played his debut IPL match on March 26, 2022. He represented CSK against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the season opener.
Conway had a poor start, scoring three runs off eight balls. Then he didn’t make the playing XI for a month.
But then Conway returned with a bang, smashing an unbeaten 85 from 55 balls against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The left-hander then logged two more fifties in the next two games.
He finished his debut season with 252 runs in seven matches at a strike rate of 145.66.

Devon Conway Last IPL Match
Devon Conway’s last appearance in the IPL came in the 2023 final. It was a match between CSK and Gujarat Titans on May 29, 2023.
Conway scored 47 runs from 25 balls, helping CSK chase down the target of 171 runs. His knock landed CSK their fifth IPL title.

Devon Conway didn’t feature in IPL 2024 owing to an injury, and CSK rightfully missed him at the top. Everyone expected that the franchise would retain him ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, but that wasn’t the case.
