For the first time after 2008, the opening match of an IPL season will be played between the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The opening match of the IPL 2025 season will be played between these two teams as the tournament turns 18. Talking about the match, the defending champions will look to start well at their home ground.
The Knight Riders have a great record at the Eden Gardens against the three-time finalists. Out of 12 games, the Purple brigade has won eight matches. The last time RCB won at Eden Gardens was way back in 2019. In that game, former India and RCB captain, Virat Kohli scored his fifth IPL hundred.
