Six hitting is an art, and not every batter is equipped to hit sixes at will. This is probably the most productive skill for a batter that earns him half a dozen runs. Since the inception of T20 cricket, the batting has become more about hitting boundaries in sixes.

10. Chris Cairns (NZ) – 87 Sixes
Former Kiwi all-rounder Chris Cairns was one of the finest stars that played for his country. He was more of a white-ball specialist because of this powerhitting ability. He had a pretty successful career across formats for New Zealand. Cairns played 62 tests for New Zealand and scored 3320 runs with 87 sixes and 365 fours. He also took 218 wickets with the ball in hand.
9. Brian Lara (WI) – 88 Sixes
West Indian legend Brian Lara was one of the best test batters in history. He had some unbelievable records in the longest format of the game that no one can come close to. Lara’s highest score of 400 not out is the highest individual score in test cricket. Lara played 131 tests and scored the most runs for his country (11953). He scored 34 centuries and 48 half-centuries and hit 88 sixes along with 1559 fours.

7. Virender Sehwag (IND) – 91 Sixes
Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag was one of the most destructive batters in test cricket history. He retired with a strike rate of 82.23 in tests, which is one of the best in history. Sehwag played 104 tests between 2001 and 2013 and scored 8586 runs, with 23 centuries and 32 half-centuries. He had two triple hundreds as well. Sehwag hit 91 sixes and 1233 fours overall in his test career.
6. Tim Southee (NZ) – 93 Sixes
It will be a surprise for many that New Zealand’s highest wicket-taker in international cricket, Tim Southee, features on this exclusive list of explosive batters. But Southee is pretty handy with the bat, and he can hit some big sixes. The veteran Kiwi pacer has played 103 tests for New Zealand and taken 382 wickets. 5. Jacques Kallis (SA) – 97 Sixes
Former South African great Jacques Kallis was one of those cricketers who did everything in his career. He was an incredible batter, a matchwinner with the ball, and a powerful striker as well. 4. Chris Gayle (WI) – 98 Sixes
There are not many who can match the power that Chris Gayle brought to this sport. The big West Indian was one of the best six-hitters that the game has ever seen. He was unmatchable on his day and used to deal in sixes. Gayle played 103 tests for West Indies between 2000 and 2014 and scored 7214 runs, with two triple centuries. He hit 98 sixes and 1046 boundaries in his career.
3. Adam Gilchrist (AUS) – 100 Sixes
The first man to hit 100 sixes in test cricket was Adam Gilchrist. The left-hander was known for putting the opposition under pressure. He played as the opener in white-ball, but his role in test cricket was the bat down the order and attack. Gilchrist played 96 tests and scored 5570 runs with 17 centuries and 26 half-centuries for Australia. He hit 100 sixes and 677 fours.
