We are very much preparing for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 and already a few teams have disclosed their retained and released players for the upcoming new season. As the 2024 season champions, of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) has retained the strong foundation but incoporated a few changes to the previous squad. On this section, we begin RCB’s players’ retained and released player list and the team’s approach followed by updates and trades analysis.
Overview of Retentions and Releases by RCB for WPL 2025
A total of 14 players, out of which most are seasoned players and some of them are youthful Indians, remain with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. RCB’s retention policies prove that the strategy that was adopted to win in the last seasons has not changed. With a balance of ₹3.25 crore left, RCB has four slots free, which they will occupy at the WPL 2025 auction which will be mainly for Indian players.
RCB’s Strategy for WPL 2025
The strategy behind RCB’s retentions also limits the gap between the batting and bowling departments. The aggressive strength of Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, and Sophie Devine in the top order is retained while replacing the ingenious bowlers Renuka Singh and Sophie Molineux does not weaken the bowling line up.
RCB completed their overseas player slots with the signing of Danni Wyatt, who was traded from UP Warriorz. Wyatt is believed to be an addition to the squad that will enable order reshuffling allowing RCB to have more than one way of attacking offensively.
