India’s shining gem, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, has just made history as the youngest player ever to score a century in the Indian Premier League. This great wonder happened in a match between Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur, where he proved his worth of playing in IPL. The Titans batted first and set a target of 209 runs, thanks to big innings by Jos Buttler and Shubman Gill, but the Royals chased it down in just 16 overs, Suryavanshi smacking a memorable ton.
As he continues to impress, let us take a look at the five youngest players to score centuries in IPL:
Top 5 Youngest Indians to Score a Century in IPL
1. Vaibhav Suryavanshi – 14 Years 32 Days
Suryavanshi turned out to be Manish Pandey’s record breaker and youngest centurion in IPL history. The little boy took the bowlers of the Titans by storm and brought up an astonishing century off mere 35 balls, creating the record for the fastest century in the league by an Indian.
2. Manish Pandey – 19 Years 253 Days
Pandey burst onto the scene as a hero for RCB when he hit a fantastic century at just 19 years old in the second IPL season. He scored 114 runs off 73 balls against the Deccan Chargers, helping RCB post 170 runs.
3. Rishabh Pant – 20 Years 218 Days
Pant made his name in 2018 thanks to a 128 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Although he and Harshal Patel steadied things after some quick early wickets, the 188 target proved too little, with SRH easily chasing it down.
4. Devdutt Padikkal – 20 Years 289 Days
Padikkal completed his century for RCB at age 20 years 289 days in 2021. He scored 101 runs off 52 balls against Rajasthan Royals and helped his team win.
5. Yashasvi Jaiswal – 21 Years 123 Days
Jaiswal finished fifth after having scored his first IPL century at 21 years and 123 days. He withstood falling wickets around him, finishing with 124 runs off 62 balls, unfortunately not enough to win the match, as MI scalped down the target.
What a punch of young talent to make their impression!
