The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is in a spot of bother before its annual general meeting (AGM) which was supposed to be held in Dhaka on July 24. This meeting is meant to finalise the venue and dates for the 2025 Asia Cup but things are shaky as some members don’t want to come because of the political situation in Bangladesh.
Word is the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) doesn’t want to send its top brass to Dhaka because of the growing political trouble there which is causing worry on both diplomatic and safety front. According to Gaurav Gupta of Times of India, the ACC might move the meeting from Dhaka but nothing is official yet.
The hosting of the AGM rotates between member countries and this year it was BCB’s turn. But people from India and even Sri Lanka are said to be unsure of coming to the meeting in person.
Earlier Aminul Islam said the reports of the meeting being moved weren’t true, saying everything is on track and Dhaka is still the place to be. But ACC people are quietly looking at other options with Dubai being a possible backup.
The Asia Cup, a big deal in Asian cricket, will be the main agenda at the AGM. With TV deals, planning and team schedules to be discussed, what comes out of this meeting will matter.

Although BCCI officials might join online if they are not there in person, if they are not there in person, India might not have much say. The ACC meets only once a year and this time it’s extra important as the 2025 Asia Cup still needs to be finalised.
So everyone is waiting to see if the ACC sticks to Dhaka or picks a neutral venue so all members can be there and they can sort out the Asia Cup’s future without any trouble.
