Australia, in a remarkable turn of events, have made one late alteration to their T20I team just before November’s five-match series with India, which is scheduled to start on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. Importantly, the young leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha has been called up in the squad to take Adam Zampa’s place, who is unavailable for the start of the series owing to personal matters.
ESPN sources say that Adam Zampa will be a no-show for the T20I series opener as his spouse Harriet is in labor with their second child.
The 23-year-old Tanveer Sangha will take over in his place. Overall, Sangha has played for Australia in seven T20Is so far, all being conducted between August and December 2023. He made an immediate impact on his first day with figures of 4/31 against South Africa. Overall, he has taken 10 wickets, with an economy rate of 8.89.

Also, it should be pointed out that Zampa was also absent during the first ODI of the recently concluded series of India and Australia due to traveling but he featured in the last two ODIs.
Rotation strategy for the busy season in Australia
With the Ashes 2025-26 looming in the future, Australian cricket has decided to adopt a rotating system to deal with the situation of the cricketers’ physical condition. Mitchell Marsh will command the team while Glenn Maxwell is expected to make his comeback for the last three T20Is after he has fully recovered from his fractured wrist injury.
Fast bowler Josh Hazlewood will feature in the first two matches and Sean Abbott will be at the disposal during the first three games. The selectors have also included the uncapped pacer Mahli Beardman for the last three matches.
The five-match T20I series will kick off on October 29, with the second match on October 31 at MCG. The third, fourth and fifth matches will take place on November 2, November 6 and November 8, respectively.
