Rahane has picked Yashasvi Jaiswal as one of the three Indian players he’s looking forward to see in the upcoming five-Test Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Rahane believes Jaiswal can open the batting in England as he can adapt. This comes after reports in April said Rahane and Jaiswal, who are teammates from Mumbai, had a fallout since 2022.
India Today even mentioned that their relationship was so bad that Jaiswal kicked Rahane’s kitbag during the 2025 Ranji Trophy, feeling unfairly targeted by Rahane and coach Omkar Salvi after a loss to Jammu and Kashmir. This was said to be the reason behind Jaiswal’s move to Goa from Mumbai although he has since asked the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) to take him back.
I’m really looking forward to see Yashasvi Jaiswal do well because opening the batting in England is key, Rahane said in a video on his YouTube channel a day before the first Test in Headingley. He knows how to play both defensively and aggressively and I can’t wait to see him perform in England.
Rahane also mentioned he’s looking forward to see Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah do well since they need to lead the attack and take wickets. Bumrah is a top bowler and I hope he steps up in tough situations because winning a Test series in England is special.

With Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retired and other senior players leaving, Jaiswal’s experience, although limited, has become super important for India. He will open the batting with KL Rahul. Jaiswal has played 19 Tests, scored 1798 runs at 52.88, 4 centuries. His tour to Australia wasn’t great but many think he will do better in England.
