Ayush Mhatre, the young CSK opener, has been named captain of the 17-member Mumbai team for the upcoming Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament in Chennai starting later this month. Sarfaraz Khan, the experienced India batsman, is also part of the squad.
Mhatre played his first First-Class cricket for Mumbai last season. Then he played well in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings. Later he was chosen to captain the India U-19 team for their tour of England which included all formats of the game.
The 17-year-old Mhatre will also captain India in another tour of Australia which includes all formats and starts on September 21. Suved Parker will be his vice-captain for the Mumbai team.
The team also includes Sarfaraz Khan and his younger brother Musheer who are both middle-order batsmen.
According to The Times of India, Angkrish Raghuvanshi had to pull out due to a thumb injury he sustained while touring England with the Mumbai Emerging Team.
Suved Parkar who has played 8 first-class games for Mumbai is the vice-captain for the Buchi Babu Tournament which will take place from August 18 to September 9.
On Monday, Mhatre who bats right-handed scored 82 off 48 balls for Sainath Sports Club against Dadar Union Sporting Club in a Kanga League B Division match. This was his first local match after being named captain of the India U-19 team.

In his first IPL season Mhatre scored 240 runs in 7 games at a rate of 188.97. He recently scored two centuries in the England Youth Test series. In 9 First-Class games he has scored 504 runs at an average of 31.50.
R Sai Kishore will captain the TNCA President’s XI. His team includes players like Baba Indrajith, Vijay Shankar and Shahrukh Khan.This year the tournament will be held in Chennai with 16 teams divided into 4 groups. Group A has TNCA President’s XI, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. Group B has Railways, Jammu & Kashmir, Odisha and Baroda. Group C has Mumbai, TNCA XI, Haryana and Bengal. Group D has Hyderabad, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand.
