Next month Virat Kohli will head to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for his yearly fitness checks.
These aren’t just simple run-and-gym sessions. Players will have their blood and urine tested, get bone scans, and even have their eyesight and concussion history checked. This is to ensure everyone is fit for the toughest of competitions.
Sports journalist Rohit Juglan shared the details on his YouTube channel about what goes on at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. He mentioned his sources told him about the various tests, like blood and urine analysis, DEXA scans (to measure bone density). Players also have concussion and eyesight checks. Every contracted player undergoes this full health review once a year.

The journalist said a player’s fitness is monitored when they are injured and in recovery. But these all-inclusive tests happen once a year for all contracted players, including Kohli.
Kohli’s Fitness Check Before Australia Tour Selection
Kohli being the fitness freak that he is, needs to clear these tests before the selectors finalise the India team for the Australia tour. India is playing 3 T20I and ODI matches in Australia later this year.
The journalist said the team for the Australia tour will be announced in September and Kohli will be there. He said if Kohli wants to be selected, he has to clear these tests.
