The BCCI will discuss new rules for IPL victory celebrations at their 28th Apex Council Meeting on Saturday. This comes after the stampede at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium last Wednesday where 11 people died and 56 were injured when around 250,000 fans turned up to cheer their favourite players. The BCCI has admitted that crowd management during celebrations could have been better and so they are making it a priority to address this.
They will also discuss where to hold the upcoming India-New Zealand series and review the Age Verification Program to stop age fraud in youth cricket especially for Under-16 boys and Under-15 girls teams.
Karimnagar District Cricket Association president V. Agam Rao has raised a complaint that funds meant for cricket infrastructure in Telangana were misused. BCCI Ombudsman Justice Arun Mishra has asked the Apex Council to look into this.
