Stokes was all smiles in his appearance on Sky Sports. He said that although he had been sidelined by a hamstring injury since December in New Zealand, he is still in the best shape of his life. The last few months have been very slow and steady; this way of doing it has worked very well for me.
I’m back to really pushing myself with everything-from the cricket to my fitness, and I feel ready to hit the field in great shape, Stokes told Sky Sports. Injuries have been an ongoing problem for him, especially given his all-arounder role. Yet he was dying to plug back and offer his bat and ball.
Joining back with bowling and batting at six is something I am looking forward to, putting my mark on every situation I can. I have done it before, and I am sure I am able to do it again. He further stressed that he always tries to recover stronger than before.

England starts their summer with the Test against Zimbabwe in Nottingham before embarking on what promises to be a tough series against India, known for their powerful bowling arsenal. Stokes said that he has been chatting with head coach Brendon McCullum about managing his workload this summer.
“I’m 33-I don’t want to expose myself to situations wherein I’m off the field unless I should be,” Stokes admitted. “I talk to Baz a lot about these things. We’ve spoken about how he can help me better manage that balance. We’ve worked together for so long, we know each other inside out, and those discussions have been really constructive.”
