Moving into the IPL 2025 playoffs, some excellent news came through the door for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), as Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani has been roped in. RCB has already secured their place for the playoffs but recently suffered an upset against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a high-octane match, making it almost impossible now for them to finish in the top two spot. Finishing in the top two would have granted them an extra lifeline to advance to the final.
On Monday, Royal Challengers Bangalore published on their official social handles, “🚨 NEWS: Blessing Muzarabani joins RCB for IPL 2025. 🔥 ✅ 24th May – Part of a historic Test for Zimbabwe against England 🇿🇼🏴 ✅ 25th May – Joins the RCB Camp.”

They procured Muzarabani for ₹75 lakh. The towering pacer has a huge international profile with 70 T20 International matches behind him and 78 wickets to his name, in addition to 13 Tests and 55 ODIs for Zimbabwe.
Just prior to joining RCB, Muzarabani was taking part in a Test match for Zimbabwe against England, the country’s first Test in England in twenty-two years. Zimbabwe were bowled out for 255 runs in their second innings while England had won by an innings and 45 runs. Muzarabani is coming in as a temporary replacement to South African pacer Lungi Ngidi, who is to leave on May 26 to join the South African squad for the World Test Championship final against Australia, starting on June 11 at Lord’s.

This will be Muzarabani’s first experience in the IPL. While he’s not super seasoned in big leagues, RCB is counting on his pace and energy to give their bowling attack a boost as they head into the playoffs. Right now, RCB is joining teams like Gujarat Titans, Punjab Kings, and Mumbai Indians in the playoffs, and they’re hoping Muzarabani can make a difference in these crucial matches.
