Chennai Super Kings have not been performing very well this time around. They lost the playoff race at an early stage after managing just 3 wins in 13 contests. One among the prominent players, Shivam Dube, had a quiet season, too. With MS Dhoni and the team looking to rise next year, Dube may just not find a place.
Dube is a good middle-order batter who had a significant contribution to CSK’s IPL 2023 crown win with 418 runs at a striking rate of 158.33. But his form dipped in IPL 2024, scoring 396 runs at an average of 36.00, and the lack of consistency remained evident. In 2025, his statistics slipped further.
Year | Matches | Runs | Strike Rate | Average |
2023 | 16 | 418 | 158.33 | 38 |
2024 | 14 | 396 | 162.3 | 36 |
2025 | 13 | 340 | 129.77 | 34 |
If CSK decides to part ways with him, some teams might show the appetite to acquire his services:
1. Kolkata Knight Riders: IPL 2025 has been hard on KKR’s middle order. If Venkatesh Iyer departs, there might be a void at No. 5. With Rahane and Raghuvanshi doing well at 3 and 4, Dube’s power hitting would indeed fortify their cause.
2. Lucknow SuperGiants: LSG’s middle order has indeed appeared fragile, particularly with the underwhelming performances from the likes of Marcus Stoinis and Rishabh Pant. Should the management decide on reworking things, Dube could be the apt candidate to provide depth and experience.
3. Royal Challengers Bangalore: RCB’s middle order remains rather unsettled, more so with Liam Livingstone not finding the kind of form he did in the previous season. The big-hitter Dube, and the seasoned one at that, would surely be a good option for them to lean on in those crucial situations, more so at the high-scoring Chinnaswamy Stadium.
4. Punjab Kings: Much like LAST SEASON, Punjab Kings will most likely search for a strong batter for the middle order if they decide to release Maxwell due to injuries and poor form. The hitting ability of Dube along with his medium-pace bowling can make him a strong candidate to fill that position, especially with Inglis being inconsistent.
