People generally want to stick to their family’s legacy no matter what the area of work. Cricket is one of the areas where the same situation can be noticed, and likewise, the world has seen some remarkable father-son pairs playing for their nations in international matches.
Thus, we will delve into 5 father-son pairs who were actively involved in international cricket in the context of this article.
1. Lala Amarnath – Mohinder & Surinder Amarnath

The Indian family of the Amarnaths has cricket as a very important part of their life. The legendary Lala Amarnath passed the cricketing baton down to 3 of his sons, 2 of whom went on to represent India.
Lala Amarnath, an all-rounder, was a major force in First-Class cricket. His talent got him a place in the Indian Test team, and he scored a century in the very first match he played. Thus, he became the first Indian batsman to hit a Test century in what was India’s first match on home ground.

Eventually, his sons — Mohinder, Surinder, and Rajinder — followed daddy’s footsteps and took up the bat. The first two played for India, while the latter left his imprint on the First-Class circuit.
Mohinder made his contributions to the World Cup victory of 1983 and scored more than 6300 runs and 78 wickets in Tests and ODIs combined. Surinder, however, had a short career but was also credited with making a Test debut century, which was the same case with his father.
2. Geoff Marsh – Shaun and Mitchell Marsh

The fact that Australia’s Geoff Marsh witnessed his two sons playing for their country at the very top was truly remarkable. Marsh was able to score over 7200 runs in total throughout his cricket career.
Shaun, the elder son, learned the game from his father right by his side throughout his career and was even brought into the family game while being helped by his father. Shaun took to the international scene in 2008. His debut indicated the great potential he possessed, but unfortunately, injuries got the better of him and he was often out of the playing eleven.
In the year 2011, Geoff’s second son, Mitchell, debuted internationally. At first, he was not a consistent performer, but now he is showing good performance.
Moreover, the Marsh family members have been part of the victorious Australian teams at the World Cups held in 1987 (Geoff), 2019 (Shaun), 2015 and 2023 (Mitchell).
3. Chris Broad – Stuart Broad

Although he had a brief career, Chris Broad was a resolute opener for England. His three consecutive Test centuries during the 1986 Ashes Series were the brightest moments in his playing days.
Stuart, his son, dared to take up a challenge and was building a career that was amazing, even after suffering the indignity of being hit for 6 sixes in 6 balls in his early career. Stuart kept on pushing himself and was able to establish his place by bothering the batsmen with his speed and skill.
Start Broad bowed out of the game with more than 840 international wickets, a performance that not only made his father but the whole world proud.
4. Peter Pollock – Shaun Pollock

Peter Pollock was the leading fast bowler in South Africa during his playing days. He played for 9 years before his country’s international cricketing ban was imposed after 1970. Peter during his career of 28 matches took 116 Test wickets, which included 9 instances where he took 5 or more wickets in an innings.
Later, he was the one who helped a lot in the cricketing development of his son Shaun. The African nation got a perfect bowling all-rounder in Shaun Pollock. He had a loud international career, as he was the one who got 829 wickets and 7386 runs in 423 matches.
