Monty Panesar, the former England spinner, thinks Jasprit Bumrah, whom he calls the best in the world, should replace Prasidh Krishna in India’s team for the crucial third Test at Lord’s.
India tied the series 1-1 with a great show, won their first Test at Edgbaston after a long time. Even without Bumrah, India surprised England with good spells from Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj.
Panesar stressed the importance of India’s 336-run win at Birmingham, especially with key players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravichandran Ashwin missing. With the next Test coming up soon, Panesar thinks India will start well.
This was a historic win for India. They outplayed England in a way that was unbelievable. No one expected India to play so well, especially without Virat, Rohit or Ashwin, Panesar told ANI before the third Test.
Bumrah is back after his injury in Sydney during India’s fifth Test against Australia. He was very good in the first innings, took 5 wickets in 24.4 overs and gave away 83 runs. Although he didn’t take any wickets in the second innings during India’s 5-run loss in Leeds, he was rested for the second Test to manage his workload as he was only supposed to play three of the five Tests in England.

For the next Test, Jasprit Bumrah should be in the team and maybe Krishna should sit out as he has played two Tests in a row and may need a rest. India is in a good position right now. England has a lot to think about and I think India will start well, he said.
Shubman Gill, the India captain, took responsibility for India’s score in the second match, especially after the two batting collapses in Leeds. He played a captain’s innings, scored 269(387). He also scored 161(162) in the second innings, taking advantage of England’s inexperienced pace attack, scoring almost at a rate of 100.Akash kept England’s top order quiet in the first innings, 4/88. In the second innings, he was even better and got the wickets of Joe Root, Ben Duckett, Jamie Smith and Harry Brook and restricted England’s chase of 608 and finished with 6/99.
