Glenn Maxwell has now joined the likes of David Warner, Aaron Finch, Rohit Sharma and Jos Buttler in the fourth most T20 centuries club. He achieved this feat by hitting his 8th century in a Major League Cricket 2025 (MLC) match for the Washington Freedom against the Los Angeles Knight Riders in Oakland.
Maxwell, the ‘Big Show’ for his hitting, smashed 106* off 49 balls with just 2 fours and 13 sixes, with a strike rate of 216.33. He’s been captaining the team this season since Steve Smith who led them to the title last year is unavailable.
Warner, Finch, Rohit, Buttler and Michael Klinger have all hit 8 T20 centuries while Chris Gayle leads with 22 in 463 matches. Babar Azam, Rilee Rossouw and Virat Kohli have 11 and 9 centuries respectively.
Washington Freedom chose to bat first after winning the toss. Mitchell Owen scored 32 off 11 balls to help the team recover from 68/4. Maxwell then took over and scored 26 off Jason Holder in the last over to get to his century and take his team to 208/5.
