Nitish Kumar Reddy might make a comeback in the next Test against England at Edgbaston. He could replace Shardul Thakur, who didn’t do well with bat or ball in the last match at Headingley.
Team India has been practicing in Birmingham for long and the possible lineup for Edgbaston Test is out. Nitish Reddy batted, bowled and fielded, while Thakur didn’t bowl when Indian batters were practicing, according to Express Sports.
Besides these practice sessions, Reddy was also seen at gully along with Indian slip fielders B Sai Sudharsan, KL Rahul, Karun Nair and captain Shubman Gill.
The report also mentioned that Washington Sundar might be chosen over Kuldeep Yadav as India’s second spinner for Birmingham Test. On Monday, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate said the team will pick an extra spinner as the Edgbaston pitch is expected to dry up.
Ten Doeschate didn’t say whether Kuldeep or Sundar would be picked but Sundar’s long batting practice suggests he might play instead of Kuldeep.
Express Sports reported that Sundar handled the fast deliveries from India’s throw-down specialists well. He played the ball well and also bowled several overs of off-spin. Kuldeep on the other hand only bowled to local net bowlers and not his India teammates.
