According to the ICC website, Ravi Shastri, India’s former coach, has told Team India to be positive as they try to tie the five-Test series against England in Birmingham.
India lost to England by 5 wickets in the first Test of the ICC World Test Championship at Headingley. Even though they were in charge for most of the game, they now need to get ready fast for the Edgbaston game which they have to win. The winner takes the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
There are still questions whether India will risk playing Jasprit Bumrah, their top fast bowler, in the second Test as they are still watching how much he plays. The team is also thinking of adding a second spinner to help Ravindra Jadeja who is their first choice.
Shastri is not worried about who is in the team. Instead he wants his old team to play positive cricket with good intentions in the big Edgbaston game.
Shastri told The ICC Review, The most important thing for India is to hit back right away.
He added, When you lose a Test match like this where you were in control for most of it and then lose on the last day with a big chase – and England deserve credit for keeping their cool and doing it – it will take a lot of strength to bounce back and get back into the series.
He said, Now we don’t know if Bumrah will play or not. But let’s hope he does, because this is a big Test match and all hope is not lost.

Shastri added, It’s just one game at a time. It’s a five-game series and India will want to get back on track.
Shastri thinks Shubman Gill, the new captain, will have got a lot out of India’s loss in the first game of the series. He expects the young captain to be more aggressive for the rest of the series.
Shastri said, People say he was a little slow to react and that can happen when you’re playing your first Test match (as captain), especially in such good batting conditions with a fast field. Things can happen like that.
He said, But he would have got a lot out of it and will want to be a little more aggressive now, which means the bowlers and fielders will have to give him that support. Just do it.
