In the ongoing first Semi Final 1 of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Australia opening batter Travis Head has been removed by Varun Chakravarthy. The two-time winners, Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. In the first over, Mohammed Shami missed a tough caught and bowled chance of Head. After the first three overs, the ODI World Cup 2023 winner started playing the way he does.
The left-hander hit three back-to-back four against Shami in the fifth over of the innings. In total, the South Australia player scored 39 off 33 balls including two sixes and five fours. Chakravarthy was introduced in the ninth over and Head couldn’t help himself as he went for a big shot. Shubhman Gill, who was stationed at long off, took a brilliant running catch.
This wicket has brought a lot of smiles among the Indian fans and the team. At the time of writing, the Aussies have scored 69/2 in 12 overs. The wicket of Head has meant that the scoring rate may have dropped and might continue to happen consistently.
Travis Head has been a headache for India in the past
The 31-year-old was a nemesis for India in the World Test Championship 2023 Final and ODI World Cup 2023 Final. The former RCB player in the IPL scored 169 against the Asian side in the WTC 2023 Final. This innings helped the Kangaroos win their maiden WTC title.
A few months later, Head scored 137 runs against India in the ODI WC 2023 final and helped the team win the tournament for the sixth time. The Men In Blue managed to stop Head in the T20 World Cup last year which they ended up winning. India would like to win the Champions Trophy final to get closer to winning the title.
