For every player, donning the national colors of their country and aiding the team in its efforts is a dream come true. In India, where cricket is the religion, players are always under the spotlight and the pressure to always perform is constant.

Among them, few remarkable names took their positions by scoring splendid runs or taking record-breaking wickets. ICC, the International Cricket Council, gave a nod to these player’s efforts by engraving them in the Hall of Fame.

We will discuss the Indian cricketers who were selected for the ICC Hall of Fame in this write-up.

List: Indian Cricketers Inducted in the ICC Hall of Fame

    1. Sunil Gavaskar | 2009

Sunil Gavaskar, the little master was one of the 55 inductees who were inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2009. The little master’s performance in international cricket is self-evident with 10122 Test runs and 3092 ODI runs scored.

He made his mark in history as one of the best batsmen ever. And this award further cemented his greatness which the cricketing world experienced.

    2. Bishan Singh Bedi |2009

Gavaskar, apart from one, another Indian was the one who was the star patient of the review that year, and he was Bishan Singh Bedi. The left-handed legendary off-spinner did not just spin the ball but also made the batters dance to his spin.

The former Indian captain’s Test record was 266 wickets from 67 Tests, which is quite good, but he was even better in First-Class cricket where he took a staggering 1560 scalps.

    3. Kapil Dev | 2010

The World Cup-winning captain got his entry to the Hall of Fame in 2010. If you look at Kapil Dev’s all-round record, it would be unjust not to include him among the elites.

The all-rounder, who was a master of fast bowling, demonstrated his skill and talent not only with the ball but also with the bat. Dev took a total of 434 Test wickets and 253 ODI wickets, while also claiming the honor of being the one who scored the maximum number of runs in Test matches (5248) and (3783) in ODIs.

    4. Anil Kumble | 2015

There is no doubt that Anil Kumble is one of the finest spinners India has produced. The leg spinner, with his powerful wrist spin, took away the whole band of an opponent’s batting line-up in no time by his very presence on the field.

Anil Kumble was one of the key players in many Indian Test victories by his wicket-collection. Kumble ended his career as India’s leading wicket-taker in Tests (619) and ODIs (337). Furthermore, he is one of the rare bowlers who has the honor of achieving a 10-wicket haul in an innings in Tests.

    5. Rahul Dravid | 2018

Rahul Dravid was India’s rock-solid and unbeatable batter, the very image of gritting at the crease, thus, over 24000 international runs. Dravid was awarded the ICC Hall of Fame in 2018.

He has been taking up different roles by playing at different places in the batting order, keeping wickets for a while, and also leading India for a short period.

    6. Sachin Tendulkar | 2019

The following year, the great Sachin Tendulkar, who had a wonderful cricketing career, got his place in the Hall of Fame by his induction. Tendulkar, also regarded as the great batsman, has a long list of records to his credit.

The Master Blaster was a virtuoso with his bat, easily dominated every shot, and made runs all over the ground. He completed his remarkable career with more than 34000 runs and 100 international centuries, which is a record that no other player has equaled.

    7. Vinoo Mankad | 2021

Do you remember the Mankading? The term refers to Vinoo Mankad, who not only did this but also has an unusual record of playing at all positions in Tests one after the other.

Nonetheless, he was the best red-ball cricket all-rounder for India. Mankad in Tests took 162 wickets and scored 2109 runs, while in over 25 years First-Class he picked up 782 wickets and amassed 11591 runs.

    8. Diana Edulji | 2023

Diana Edulji was the first Indian female cricketer to be included in the ICC Hall of Fame. She simply has to be one of the best women cricketers in Indian history!

Edulji was active during India’s participation in 20 Tests and 34 ODIs, with her contribution being 63 and 46 wickets respectively. She is still among the top three in the women’s Test wicket-takers, having delivered over 5000 balls.

    9. Virender Sehwag | 2023

Virender Sehwag arrived with his strong, aggressive batting style and gave solid starts to India while storming the opposing team at the same time. Test cricket was revolutionized by him as he just scored runs at a faster pace and having fun doing it.

Indirectly, Sehwag’s fearless and attacking batting during the entire innings was a major factor in India being crowned World Cup champions in 2011. His being inducted into the Hall of Fame is a testimony to the great impact he had by scoring with his gallant batting.

    10. Neetu David | 2024

Neetu David was the second, after Edulji, who in 2024 joined the elite Hall of Fame list. David is one of the best spinners that India has produced.

Her spectacular bowling figure of 8 for 53 in one innings against the England women’s team in 1995 is still the best in women’s Test cricket. It reflects the quality of her bowling skills as a spinner.

In total, however, David took 41 wickets in 10 Tests and 141 wickets in 97 ODIs with her left-arm spin for India.

    11. MS Dhoni | 2025

Among a few, the players who have had a grip over Indian cricket like MS Dhoni are few. His composed decision-making rewarded the country.

He did many chases with that attitude. Who could forget Dhoni’s match-winning 91 not out innings which aided India in lifting the 2011 World Cup?

Besides the World Cup, he steered the team to T20 World Cup and Champions Trophy victories, and he became the sole captain to win all ICC limited-overs tournaments.

With the bat, Dhoni made 17266 runs in total across all formats, and he also had 829 dismissals behind the wickets.
