Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ajinkya Rahane has supported Venkatesh Iyer as a good player. Iyer has not been in good form of late, but according to Ajinkya Rahane, all he needs is that one innings to get back on track. KKR is in tough waters in IPL and has to win all four of their remaining matches to keep their hopes alive in the playoffs, and obviously, this will add a lot of pressure.
The highest-paid player in the KKR team, Iyer has been priced at Rs 23.75 crore, and his few decent scores of 60 and 45 have not been enough to redeem him from the awful performances he put in during other matches. “Every player goes through tough times. He is a quality player who has played well for us in the past. It is a great sign that the team has come together to support him while he puts in hard work to improve,” Rahane said.
Iyer has scored just 28 runs in his last four outings, but Rahane is pretty optimistic about his return. “We are fully backing Venkatesh Iyer. One good innings is all it takes, and he could find his rhythm again in the next four games,” he said.

The uncovered opening pair has been another area of concern this year. Rahane told of Narine’s past performances, noting, “Quinton started with a flourish but has not capitalized after that. Mistakes happen, especially in this format. We do want our players to play freely, and that sometimes leads to errors.” KKR will play the Rajasthan Royals at home today, on May 4.
